NIOXIN® Styles Christian Cota Fall/Winter 2008 Show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York
NIOXIN® and designer Cota collaborate to create “unconventional texture” as his collection is shown for the first time at Espace
ATLANTA, GA (February X, 2008) - NIOXIN® Research Laboratories, Inc. the leader in professional skincare for the scalp and professional hairstyling products, joined Christian Cota at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York to create fresh, sophisticated, modern hairstyles which accentuated Cota’s 2008 Fall/Winter collection. Guests including _____ were introduced to Cota’s cutting edge dress collection complemented by hair that is sure to be one of the hottest looks for fall – a glamorous “unconventional texture” with softly pinned loose waves created by the NIOXIN® styling team.
Cota transforms vintage ideas into pieces sumptuously modern. He pays close attention to detail through the use of daytime colors, hand-crafted, detail-driven fabrics and patterns. Every piece in this collection rewards a closer look. A dress seemingly constructed of spider legs is, in fact, made of fine hairs, frayed over chiffon. Silk sepia clouds turn out to have faces. And then, suddenly, the decadent past is cut by the clean, astringent light of the present – a fitted top, a leather jacket sharp as a blade. Cota explains that he wants “every look to contain multiple dimensions” through his creation of pieces that are meticulously made to seem effortless.
NIOXIN® lead stylist Donna Maggi collaborated with Cota to formulate glamorous, textured, effortless looks capturing sumptuous modernity. To create this “unconventional texture” finish, each model’s hair was first prepped with NIOXIN® Volumizing Reflectives™ Root Lifter, a weightless volumizer that provides extra-hold and root lifting support. This was followed by NIOXIN® Volumizing Reflectives™ Bliss Thermal Protector, a weightless leave-in conditioner that protects hair from thermal styling. The hair was then set in pin curls using a wide-barreled curling iron and sprayed with NIOXIN® Volumizing Reflectives™ NioSpray® Extra Hold hairspray to provide additional volume and shine. After the hair cooled, the pins were removed and the hair was simply shaken (not brushed) to create a textured, tousled wave that moved naturally with each model’s step. Another touch of NioSpray® Extra Hold was added to the hair just as the models hit the runway.
The final looks on all of the models fused a classic quality with a creative edge, and reflected the theme of the Christian Cota Fall/Winter Collection – fresh, sophisticated, modern femininity - that is certain to make the Collection a “must” for the fall editorial pages and A-list events!
