Does NIOXIN® use synthetic fragrances or essential oils? NIOXIN® uses both synthetic fragrances and essential oils where appropriate.
Do NIOXIN® products contain minoxidil? No.
Do NIOXIN® products contain Alcohol? Only a couple of the styling aids do. Although NIOXIN® strives to eliminate drying alcohol in all of its products, there are certain products that cannot function properly without a certain amount of alcohol. NIOXIN® hairsprays are the only products NIOXIN® makes that contain alcohol and they have the smallest quantity of alcohol possible that will still allow them to work and evaporate before coming in contact with the skin. There are other products with ingredient lists that include cetyl alcohol, but which are often confused with their more problematic distant cousins which are very drying to the skin.
Do NIOXIN® products contain formaldehyde? No.
Do any NIOXIN® products contain Lanolin? No.
Do NIOXIN® products contain perfume? Some NIOXIN® products contain perfume fragrance and herbal fragrances.
Why does NIOXIN® use Sodium Laureth Sulfate when it has been claimed as being a harmful ingredient? NIOXIN® products are formulated with the safest and most effective ingredients currently available. All of our ingredients enjoy a long and safe history of use as substantiated through the Personal Care Products Council. Sodium Laureth Sulfate is not a harmful ingredient. It and all of our ingredients are allowed for use in cosmetics by the Food and Drug Administration. Not only are they judged by our government to be safe and effective for their intended use, they are further tested by the Personal Care Products Council under their Cosmetic Ingredient Review Expert Panel. From a Global Perspective, these ingredients have been accepted as safe to use in 40 countries.
Do NIOXIN® products contain Cocamidopropyl Betaine? Yes the cleansers contain Cocamidopropyl Betaine.
What are polysorbates? Fatty acid esters used in many cosmetics as emulsifiers.
What are emulsifiers? Ingredients used in cosmetics to enable other ingredients to mix together, such as oil and water.
What are PVP film formers? Polyvinylprillidone; Plastic resins used in products to give wet combing, hold, shine and conditioning which bind to the hair and skin and may cause build up.
Do any NIOXIN® products contain eucalyptus in any form? NIOXIN® does not currently incorporate eucalyptus in any products. However, that does not mean NIOXIN® will not in the future. Please always read the labels and consult a qualified allergy doctor before using any product.
Do NIOXIN® products contain any nut, soy or tropical fruit products? NIOXIN® uses products derived from Coconut and Soy. The NIOXIN® Systems 5 thru 8 also contain Kukui Nut oil.
Do any NIOXIN® products contain metallic salts? With the exception of Sodium Chloride, common table salt, NIOXIN® products do not contain metallic salts.
Do NIOXIN® products contain EDTA? NIOXIN® does use EDTA in the following formulas: • Systems 1,2,3,4 and 6 Cleansers • System 2, 4, 6 and 8 Scalp Treatments • Volumizing Reflectives™ Liquid Sculpting Gel
Is the Quaternium 4 in NIOXIN® products related to Quaternium 15? Is it used as a preservative? Quaternium-15 is a preservative, commonly called Dowicil 200. NIOXIN® does not use this ingredient in any of its products. The Quaternium-15 and PolyQuaternium-4 are not similar. Polyquaternium-4 is a conditioning agent.
Do NIOXIN® Scalp Treatments™ contain Sulfur? NIOXIN Scalp Treatments™ do not contain sulfur.
Is the serenoa serrulata in Follicle Booster® the same as saw palmetto? Yes, it is the Latin name for it.
Is there a significantly larger amount of serenoa serrulata in the Follicle Booster® than in the Cleanser? Yes.
Do any of the NIOXIN® hairsprays contain Nickel? No.
Are the following ingredients in NIOXIN® products? • Colopony • Toluene sulfonamide formaldehyde resin • Budesonide NIOXIN® products do not contain any of the above listed ingredients. If someone has sensitivities it is recommended that an approved physician test the products to evaluate use.
Do any of the NIOXIN® products contain yellow #5? If so; is green #5 used to make yellow #5? NIOXIN Cleanser™ and Scalp Therapy System 5 and Hydrating Hair Masque contain yellow #5. Green #5 is not used to make this ingredient.
Do NIOXIN® products contain Apricot? NIOXIN® does not contain Apricot in any of its products.
Do NIOXIN® products contain Balsam of Peru? Do NIOXIN® products contain Balsam of Peru? NIOXIN® products currently do not contain Balsam of Peru.
Do NIOXIN® Products contain hormones? None of NIOXIN® products contain hormones.
Are the ingredients that contain the prefix “poly” in NIOXIN® products plastics? There are several ingredients in the NIOXIN® ingredient lists that contain “poly” in their name. None are plastics.
Do the NIOXIN® Systems contain algae extract? Yes, Systems 2, 4, 6 and 8 contain Algae Extract.
Other than the Systems 5 thru 8; are there any other products that contain nuts or derivatives of nuts? NIOXIN® Scalp Therapy System 1 contains walnut leaf extract.
Does NIOXIN® use kosher ingredients? NIOXIN® does not use certified kosher ingredients.

What is the active part of the NIOXIN Follicle Booster®? There are no single active ingredients in NIOXIN® products. There are proprietary complexes in each product.
