Can I use NIOXIN® products before and/or after receiving a “Relaxer” service?
NIOXIN® Scalp and Hair Care Systems 3, 4, 7 and 8 are designed specifically to address the needs of chemically enhanced hair and scalp. Specially formulated with the advanced NIOXIN® Technology of Glyco-Color Shield™, NIOXIN® helps to safeguard the scalp from the drying irritation caused by various chemical services. NIOXIN® Scalp and Hair Care Systems may also protect against the damaging effects of chemical residues and environmental toxins. Consistent use of the NIOXIN® Scalp and Hair Care Systems before and after regularly scheduled “relaxers” may help to progressively improve the quality and texture of the hair. Please note that the improvement in the porosity of the hair may increase the processing time.
Note: Always consult with your doctor before using any product during pregnancy, when breastfeeding or undergoing any other medical treatments.

Can I use NIOXIN® after a color treatment?
NIOXIN® Scalp and Hair Care Systems is a color-safe hair care line and helps to prevent drying irritation that can be caused by chemical services, thus, maintaining a healthy scalp environment essential for people with fine or thin-looking hair. Properly applied color in varying shades can add depth to fine and thin-looking hair, and make it look thicker and fuller. NIOXIN® Scalp and Hair Care Systems 3, 4, 7 and 8 line of cleansers, conditioners and scalp treatments is specially formulated for use on colored treated hair. They improve the scalp environment and provide protection for color enhanced hair, locking the color into the hair, while at the same time giving it vibrancy and shine.

Will NIOXIN® strip color or cause color to fade?
NIOXIN® Scalp and Hair Care Systems are formulated with natural botanicals and can be used on men women and children of all ages without any known side effects.

Can I use color rinse with NIOXIN®?
NIOXIN® Scalp and Hair Care Systems are safe to use with your color rinse. In fact, use of the system prior to a color rinse will clarify the hair of resins, minerals and greatly improve color penetration and processing results. Use of the system after the color rinse will help strengthen the hair giving it vibrancy and shine.

Does NIOXIN® make any type of oil products for the hair and scalp?
NIOXIN® does NOT make synthetic oil products as they contain naturally occurring soothing essential oils, Lavender, Geranium, Cypress, Peppermint and Rosemary, beneficial to the scalp and hair; however, NIOXIN® does not contain any petroleum or animal protein-based oil products that tend to clog the hair follicle sites. NIOXIN® Scalp and Hair Care Systems also contains Glyco-Color Shield®™ a moisturizing infusion of blended rare protective herbs and botanicals that restores the hair's moisture balance and helps to guard the scalp and hair from the drying irritation caused by various chemical services.

Is NIOXIN® designed for all ethnic make-ups?
NIOXIN® is a natural product designed for people of all hair types.

What products are recommended for “permed” or “relaxed” hair?
NIOXIN® Scalp and Hair Care Systems 3, 4, 7 and 8, formulated with Glyco-Color Shield™, are recommended for use on hair that is permanently waved or chemically relaxed. NIOXIN® Intensive Therapy™ allows you to enhance and customize the effects of your daily NIOXIN® Scalp and Hair Care System with deep, penetrating skin and hair treatments and intensive results. For example, Weightless Reconstructive Masque or Hydrating Hair Masque recondition and enhance the appearance of damaged hair without adding weight.

Are there any chemicals in NIOXIN® that would affect “relaxers”?
No. The technology in NIOXIN® Scalp and Hair Care Systems 3, 4, 7 and 8 is designed to enhance all chemical services, including chemical “relaxers”. Therefore, NIOXIN® Scalp and Hair Care Systems 3, 4, 7 and 8 will not only benefit the over all quality of the scalp skin, but also the quality of chemically enhanced hair as well.

Do NIOXIN® products have the ability to relax “permed” hair?
No. The technology in NIOXIN® Scalp and Hair Care Systems 3, 4, 7 and 8 is designed to enhance all chemical services, including permanent waves. NIOXIN® Scalp and Hair Care Systems cleansers remove build up, resins, and minerals. NIOXIN® Intensive Therapy™ treatments help to strengthen the keratin for an optimum permanently waved style.

What is Sodium Laurel Sulfate?
There has been some confusion between and ingredient called Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (also known as SLS) and a safe and gentle ingredient that we use in NIOXIN® Scalp and Hair Care Systems cleansers called Sodium Laureth Sulfate (also known as SLES). In addition, there has been an unfounded and misleading rumor over the safety of the ingredients Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) and Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES). It has since been confirmed that the concerns regarding the safety of these ingredients was an Internet hoax. In fact, the data available clearly demonstrates the safety of both SLS and SLES for cosmetic use (see Health Canada, CTFA, and Cosmetic Ingredient Review). Specifically, SLES excels in its ability to provide gentle, less irritating, deep cleansing and conditioning benefits while removing sebum build up without drying or irritating the scalp.

Does NIOXIN® carry a line of products for chemically enhanced hair?
NIOXIN® Scalp and Hair Care Systems 3, 4, 7 and 8 is a complete line of products formulated with Glyco-Color Shield™ for chemically enhanced fine or thin-looking hair.
